Ouwe paaltjes knuffelaar LOL

Groet ron

Stukje tekst van de eigenaar. (bron van deze tekst: http://hankstruckforum.com/htforum/index.php?topic=51246.15 )

It is interesting to read the comments on your web site about my Volvo F12 Globetrotter.
To get the story straight, here is the real, true story how this all came together.

Before I immigrated to Canada I was working as a driver for van der Slot transport in the Netherlands, and I drove the F12 to the south of France mostly, from the day it was new, for about a year and a half. The company I worked for hauled plants and flowers from the Netherlands mostly, and fruit back.
Then I immigrated to Canada in 1991, worked for another company in the flower business for about 4 years.
In 1995 I started my own company, Mainland Floral Distributors Ltd. We wholesale flowers and plants from BC to our customers in Washington, Oregon, BC and Alberta.
Things went well, and I bought a number of Freightliner FL80 trucks, similar to the M2’s on the road today.
In 1999 ITB in Surrey, BC, built the first mid-axle trailer for us, we pulled it with the little FL80.
Then I bought an Argosy, in 2000 when they had just came out on the market, with an ITB body on it, more suitable to pull the trailer.
Later the FL80’s were replaced with M2’s, but before that, I tried to import Volvo FM Globetrotters, but there was no way that was going to happen, Volvo Sweden was very cooperative, but Volvo Canada would not let it happen.
Instead, to satisfy my Volvomania I found out the old F12 had been parked at a used truck dealer in the Netherland, and with the help of some old colleagues, friends, and my old Dutch employer we managed to import it into Canada.
We first sandblasted the chassis and painted it our colour, green, and later on repainted the van body, and last, disassembled the cab and had it nicely painted.
By the way, my old employer is still in good health, he is retired as his son has taken over the business, but I still visit them every time I am in the Netherlands.
The dealer that sold the truck originally in Rijnsburg is also  very supportive in keeping this truck on the road.
Later on we also imported another mid-axle trailer from the Netherlands, to fit behind the F12.
We now have recently built two more trailers, by K-Line trailers, now behind two of the latest Agrosy’s.
